*Used in connection with a person's domicile, especially denoting a man's abode, and answering to á and í, the name of the farm (or country) being added to proper names (as in Scotland) to distinguish persons of the same name. *Examples: Hallr af Síđu, Erlíngr af Straumey, Ástríđr af Djúpárbakka, Gunnarr af Hlíđarenda (more usual frá), Ţórir haklangr konungr af Ögđum (king of Agdir)
