How Are FrameMaker Components Translated?

Modifying cross-reference formats
In a printed document, cross-references usually include page numbers to help the reader find the target item. But online, those page numbers are unnecessary (and irrelevant) because the hyperlink is live. The reader can just click the link to reach the referenced information. As a result, the cross-reference formats from print documents often need to be modified for online use.
In WebWorks Publisher Standard Edition, you can modify your FrameMaker cross-reference formats. Here's how:
- Click the FrameMaker and Generated Files folder. (If you want to set a custom mapping for a single file, click that file instead.)
- Select Project » Properties, or right-click and select Properties from the pop-up menu.
- The Properties window is displayed. By default, the mappings for paragraph tags are shown.
- Click the XREFs tab.
- To change a cross-reference format, click the Online Replacement Format entry to make it editable and type in your changes.
- The online replacement format definition uses only FrameMaker cross-reference building blocks, not WebWorks Publisher Standard Edition macros. If you need help with the building blocks, refer to the Adobe FrameMaker documentation.
Note: WebWorks Publisher Standard Edition macros in cross-reference definitions are not recognized because Publisher actually writes the new cross-reference formats directly into the temporary MIF files.
